United Way
Organization Background
United Way of Anchorage’s mission is to tackle complex community issues that impact health, education, financial stability and homelessness in our city. Their goal is to bring the community together to develop and implement solutions. United Way builds awareness for efforts to raise the graduation rate to 90% by 2020, ensure our residents have access to healthcare, end homelessness and build family financial stability.
Advertising Goals
United Way used People Mover to build community support for our work to encourage kids to stay in school and to stay active and healthy. To ‘Put Kids on the Road to Success’ in Anchorage. When our kids are successful, the entire community thrives.
Why People Mover
“Buses go everywhere and reach everyone,” says, Sandy Stora, Director of Marketing for United Way. That reach and its frequency were the main motivators behind choosing People Mover. It also put United Way in a place where the audience didn’t expect them to be—a fresh opportunity to be disruptive, and in a powerful way. “They’re moving billboards,” says Stora, “and they’re lovely.”
Campaign
United Way wrapped an entire bus – one side showed kids in different job outfits like cop, firefighter, or cook to depict that every child can be whatever they dream of. The other side showed kids exercising and promoted an active, healthy lifestyle that will put them on the road to success. This wrap has been on the bus for about two years now.
Results
The United Way marketing staff received instant feedback when this campaign launched—and a high volume of compliments keeps pouring in. While it is not possible to directly track the impact of the bus, They are confident that the exposure throughout the community has increased both brand awareness and that supporting children is one of their top priorities.
